  • Kan/Paulsen: ...e6 and ...a6. Black waits with the knights and often fianchettos the queen's bishop.
  • Queen to c7 is the typical Kan setup, stopping e5 and looking at the c-file.
  • Bind against the Kan. ...b5 is easier here than in a Dragon Maroczy.
