Ideas from the course

  • Kalashnikov: ...e5 one move earlier than the Sveshnikov, so the knight is not on f6 yet.
  • The bind with c4. White treats it like a Maroczy with a knight on b5.
  • Black's extra tempo (...Be7, ...Be6) is the reason people prefer this to a full Sveshnikov.
